Ministries During the Worship Service
Below is a description of ministries during our worship service. If you are interested in volunteering, or getting more information, submit the online form from the "Ministries" page.
Acolytes: Members of the parish in grades six through twelve who assist the Rector during the worship service, including processing with torches, cross, and gospel book, and assisting in preparing the table for Communion.
Altar Guild: Members set up the altar for each service. The time commitment is one hour on a Saturday morning and clean-up after the Sunday service.
Choir: Christ Church has two choir that help facilitate musical worship during our services. The Worship Choir processes weekly, robed, and assists in service singing on a regular basis. The Festival Choir sings the anthem during the offeratory on selected Sundays during the year and rehearses the Thursday evening prior to the service they participate in. Contact Jane Frogley, music director, or the office for details.
Licensed Lay Readers and Ministers of Communion: During the Sunday services lay readers lead the Psalm and read other prayers, specifically the Prayers of the People during the liturgy. They also have the opportunity to lead services at a local nursing home on Sunday mornings. Ministers of Communion serve consecrated wine at the altar. Training and licensing are required.
Ushers: Ushers greet parishioners at the beginning of the service and receive the offering.
Lectors: Lectors read Old and New Testament readings during the worship services.
Flower Guild: Volunteers prepare flowers for the service.
